The Himalayas are not just for seasoned mountaineers. These five routes are where most trekkers start.
1. Triund Trek, Dharamsala (Easy)
9 km one-way, max 2,875m. The most popular beginner trek in Himachal with impossible views from the meadow.
2. Kedarkantha, Uttarakhand (Easy–Moderate)
Best done December–April in snow. Summit views include Swargarohini and Bandarpunch peaks.
3. Kheerganga, Parvati Valley (Easy)
12–14 km. The reward: a natural hot spring at 3,000m. Walk through Kasol through pine forest and waterfalls.
